After the success of these courses throughout 2022 we have just added a full program of dates for 2023.
If you would lke to book a private workshop for two or more people, Monday to Friday, this can be organised with a minimum of two people from the same party. Private weekend dates can be booked with a minimjm of four or more people. If this is a special birthday or event please let us know beforehand so we can make the day extra special for the group.
A FUN INTERACTIVE DAY AWAITS YOU:
Join us for a creative, fun and relaxed day of leather working, where you will join us for the whole day creating your very own pair of trainers or sneakers, whichever term you prefer.
The day commences at 10.00 am and expect to finish between 4.00 & 5.00 pm - Some people are quicker, some people take longer. We say, enjoy the time it takes for as long as it takes. It is not a race but a day to be enjoyed and remembered.
This interactive day starts with a warm welcome, where you will totally absorb yourself in the process. Initially choosing the leather/s that will suit your own personality and character. This will be the toughest thing you will do all day.
After you have chosen your favourite leather you will cut out the shape of your uppers from an easy to use pattern. Choose from super low, low or high top designs.
Prior to lunch, you will take your leather to the stage where you can attach it to the the soles. This includes adding eyelets and any personalisation if you would like initials or names on. Full instruction is given at all times.
We then take a break for lunch. This is supplied by local artisan bakery Brew which is also based in Lancaster city centre (If you do have any dietary requirements or prefer to bring your own pack lunch, please do speak to us beforehand as this can be easily accommodated). We will keep you hydrated throughout the day with tea, coffee, soft drinks and water.
After an enjoyable lunch and cake (did I mention we have lots of cake?) you will then attach your leather to the soles and finish with your choice of lace colour.
Our sneaker workshop is created in conjunction with Sneakerkit.eu and use their thick soles which are 40% natural rubber meaning they have a smaller carbon footprint, as well as this it makes them very durable as well as comfortable. The PU insole have a memory foam ergonomic shaped footbed making them extremely comfortable when worn all day long.
Our historic workshop is situated in Lancaster city centre, just a stones throw away from Lancaster castle. We are an authentic leather workshop based in one of Lancaster’s oldest postcodes. Our courtyard which was previously the stable block for the John O Gaunt hostelry, just oozes charm and character. If you want time out to have day of making, good conversation and food and on top of this take away a pair of sneakers which you have created with your own imagination and hands, then this is the perfect experience for you.
We have made fixed dates available. To book your space simply click on the day you prefer and book via the website. If you have a party or group booking of people, please contact us direct as we can accommodate other dates to suit your requirements (minimum booking of 4 for private dates). If you can’t see a suitable date on our schedule, please contact us as we run these workshops at least monthly.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
A minimum number is required to carry out the workshops and should this number not be reached we reserve the right to cancel any booking and offer a full refund or an alternative date.
A full refund can only be issued if the cancellation is more than 14 days from the date of the workshop. After this time this amount reduces to 50% as material costs will have been incurred.
Lunch is provided by a local artisan coffee shop. If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know as our caterers are more than happy to make adjustments. If you prefer to bring a packed lunch, please let us know and we will refund the cost of lunch.
We run this course in conjunction with Sneaker Kit and some of the equipment and soles are sent from Holland, therefore we require your shoe size as soon as possible.
